3D PERSPECTIVE DRAWING – Diane Hichborn Platt
Construct 3D drawings of houses, room interiors, or cityscapes using architectural tools, and develop skills that will help you freehand draw straight lines and angles in perspective - vital for all drawing. BABYPROOFING THE HOME – Amybeth Engler
Make your home safer for your littlest explorers. Receive accurate, essential information on safety risks in the home and clear, practical solutions on how to protect babies and young children from common household hazards. COMMUNICATE FOR SUCCESS – Lucy Paine Kezar
When you speak, do others understand and respond appropriately? Spoken communication is a key to success, both personally and professionally. In this enjoyable course, learn to speak effectively in areas including: one-on-one conversation and interviews, small-group leadership, telephone communication, and public speaking. CONVERSATIONAL FRENCH I – Sofie Larsen
This friendly course offers beginners and rusty speakers an opportunity to learn French. Basic grammar will be covered, but the focus will be on simple conversation, easy phrases, and vocabulary. Book included. Bienvenue!

CONVERSATIONAL FRENCH II – Sofie Larsen
Those who took Conversational French I or rusty intermediate speakers who wish to further their skills will focus on increasing ease and comfort in conversation and simple sentence structure. Basic grammar will be reviewed. Students without a book from the French I course need to purchase one. Et voil à!

CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH – Joanne Lambert
Beginners and those needing a refresher course will learn basic

Learn from two local comics how to write and deliver a 5-minute standup set. LANDSCAPE DESIGN WORKSHOP – Gary Hinz
Designing an attractive home ground involves a great deal more than      foundation planting. This workshop emphasizes design development concepts including rhythm, sequence, color, and function. Class meets at Exeter United Methodist Church.

HANDS-ON KNIFE SKILLS – Liz Barbour
Learn how to select, sharpen, properly hold, and use your knives to save time and effort in the kitchen. This hands-on class gives tips for cutting vegetables and shows how to julienne, dice, chiffonade, and chop. Bring a chef’s knife and take home the vegetables you cut along with a recipe for Liz’s Veggie Chili. This cooking demonstration/tasting teaches how to combine and prepare highly nutritious ingredients to create healthy harvest-inspired side dishes. MAKE YOUR OWN EASY ARTISAN STYLE BREAD – Leigh Sloss
No kneading involved! Discover a simple method of making French or Italian style bread that’s chewy on the inside and crusty on the outside. Learn to make the dough, cloak it, and shape it into boules, baguettes or ciabatta. Each student will leave with a fresh loaf of bread and dough to make more at home. Bring a large glass, ceramic, or plastic bowl and a wooden spoon.

TAI CHI – Taoist Tai Chi Society
This course is an introduction to the gentle art of Tai Chi – a series of slow connected movements that improve balance, strength, flexibility, digestion, concentration and more. CHRISTMAS CARD STAMPING – Linda Gebhart
Express your creativity through rubber stamping. In this class, learn the basics of card crafting and embossing with a heating tool to make stunning, one-of-a-kind holiday cards.

HARVEST MOON WREATH – Linda Gebhart
Using ribbon, silk leaves, dried wheat, berries and nuts, create a horseshoe-shaped wreath that is perfect for a fall door welcome piece.

KNITTING FOR BEGINNERS – Cindy Sauve
If you want to learn how to knit or are a beginner who is stuck on a pattern, come and learn the basics of knitting. If you’ve tried to learn but can’t get the hang of it, come use the Knifty Knitter (a very simple loom). Bring yarn, scissors, and size 7, 8 or 9 needles.

PAINTING ON CERAMIC TILES – Marina Forbes
For beginners or those with some experience with acrylics, learn a variety of techniques and brush strokes to render landscapes, florals, and other         beautiful designs on ceramic tiles. A list of required materials will be provided to registrants.

PRIMITIVE RUG HOOKING FOR BEGINNERS – Ginny Shannon
This age-old fiber art uses strips of wool to create rugs. Step-by-step instructions from basic techniques to finishing will enable you to complete your own rug. Kit provided. Bring small scissors and a tote bag.
        Tuesdays, 4 weeks, beginning October 5, 6:30-8:30 p.m., $80                   

PRIMITIVE RUG HOOKING DESIGN AND COLOR – Ginny Shannon
Experienced rug hookers will learn how to transfer a design onto linen, create and compare color schemes utilizing a color wheel, and work on a project. Kit provided. Bring hoop, hook, small scissors, and tote bag. Students without hoops and hooks can purchase them from the instructor. (No class 11/23)

RUG BRAIDING – Carolyn Brooks
For beginners or those with some experience, learn techniques in planning and starting a rug, lacing, butting, and how to choose wool. A small rug or chair seat can be finished with some homework. Bring scissors, thread, pins, thimble, and needle.
        Tuesdays, 3 weeks, beginning October 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m., $45    

SEWING – Wendy MacArthur-Keith
With guidance from the instructor, beginners will pick a project and learn the basics of sewing. Experienced sewers may have help on their own projects and time to sew. Sewing machines provided. Class meets at the Cooperative Middle School in Stratham.  
        Wednesdays, 6 weeks, beginning October 6, 7:00-9:00 p.m., $55           

STAINED GLASS FOR BEGINNERS – Colleen Durkin Blackburn
Using the copper foil method, learn to handle and cut glass, assemble an 8” x 10” design, apply copper, and solder. Bring safety goggles, scissors, a sharpie marker, and $20 for glass. Course fee includes glass cutter, running pliers, and a soldering iron for students to keep. Other materials included.

ADVANCED STAINED GLASS – Colleen Durkin Blackburn
Those familiar with making copper foiled stained glass will learn custom design and layout, use of a ring saw, the Morton system, and advanced cutting, assembly and finishing techniques. Bring safety goggles, scissors, a sharpie marker, glass cutter, pliers, soldering iron, and $50 for glass. Each student will complete a large, custom-designed panel. Materials included.

Increasing credit card debt and rising rates of bankruptcy in young adults indicate we may not be teaching our kids what they need to know about managing money. This workshop will provide information and resources to help you teach your children the fundamental skills of managing money.

HOW TO BUY & FINANCE A HOME – Ric Boudin
Designed to offer tips and strategies for buying and refinancing, this course will cover the terms and options of financing as well as credit issues. Receive a complimentary credit report and participate in Q & A sessions with and attorney, appraiser, home inspector, insurance agent, realtor, and loan officer. Also includes the details of FHA Loans as well as demystifying the myths of reverse mortgages and a discussion to help you prevent identity theft.

COMPUTER COURSES:

PLEASE NOTE:  All computer courses are taught in a Windows environment and are designed for different levels of experience. Those with limited or no experience with a PC and Windows should take Computer Basics & Keyboarding prior to other courses.  All other courses are for those confident with Windows and who have good typing and mouse skills.  Each student works at an individual computer.  

The computer lab is currently equipped with Windows XP operating system and Microsoft Office 2003.

COMPUTER BASICS & KEYBOARDING – Pat Barnaby
Exeter Adult Education’s most basic computer course for absolute beginners who need to start from square one with typing, mouse techniques, computer terminology, and word processing.  Internet and email WILL NOT be taught.

INTRODUCTION TO GENEALOGY – Patricia Antlitz
Find out more about your ancestors who came to the U.S. from Europe during the Great Immigration (post Civil War through early 1900’s). Learn about ships’ manifest records, census records, and other less obvious means to piece together your family history.
